Headbands

Baby HeadbandFirst question for this would be why and what to say about these? The pictures pretty much sum up the hideousness level of these creations. Not even on a toddler does it look better! May as well time travel back to the 80s for this Adult Headbandlook...and even then, it wasn't that easy to pull off...what would you wear with this? Your crocheted leg warmers? Even worse, the pattern suggests you fluff the fun fur out of the seam once you've sewn in the ends too...ya, great...let's fluff up the fur because it's not quite furry enough! :|

Both models seem to have that shocked look in their eyes too...I'm sure the baby is thinking, Mommy, why?? whyyyyyyyyy???

  1. The baby MIGHT look cute if this is was done in white or gold... kind of a "Look, I'm an angel" theme.

The other one though... well, it looks a little like some of the bird-like alien characters I've seen on sci-fi shows... but in a less realistic way. Frankly, it scares me that anyone would consider wearing one or inflicting this type of emotional damage on others.

  2. I think this could be just the thing for people suffering from male-pattern baldness. Next thing you know we'll be seeing fun fur yarn in shades called "Rich Mahogany", "Light Ash" and "Deep Chestnut", with natural-looking highlights and a sachet of extra-rich conditioner.

  3. Why would anyone want to make and wear such a thing? This is the kind of thing that gives crochet a bad name! The kind of thing that some knitters point to when they say crochet is bad! (Of course there are ugly funfur knitting patterns too.) Why, oh why?

  4. Mel... I HAVE seen somewhere a pattern for a knit or crocheted fun fur cap designed for ladies going through chemo. The reason listed in the pattern... it looked sortof like real hair. So, um... I'm afraid you may have hit the nail on the head..

  5. This oughta be called one of those "goldfish" projects---LONG before you get really sick and tired of it, it's over anyway.

  8. My mom had a coat that hat a fuzzy hood like that once. We used to joke and call it her "Nanook of the North" coat. It was big, puffy, and warm, but she looked ridiculous. Now, you can have all of the ridiculousness without any of the functionality! It's perfect!

Although, I think the one on the baby is kinda cute. But why make a pattern for it? It's a stinking headband- not terribly difficult.

  10. I like it. i do think its a little bit over done. I like the fluffy yarns and have made pony tail holders and fuzzy flip flops with them. I also have a fuzzy vest pattern I'm going to try. Maybe one with a little less fluff.
