why? why?
I found this gem on etsy FOR SALE! "Retro 80s swimsuit with a fashionable rose motif..."
Fashionable???
you know what really kills me about this? the model's pose.
"I can't talk to you right now...i look too good."
and not that my body is perfect (far from) but poor thing, she's bent so strangely you can see her love handles bunching up.
sigh.
Hey there, don't get caught up in the fetish of thin.
ReplyDeletelingerie? yes. swimsuit? horrors! NO!
ReplyDeleteI don't have any huge problems with the swimsuit. *duck and cover*
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't wear it, but that's because I'm the mom of a toddler. I need my swimsuits to be infinitely more functional than any crochet swimsuit will ever be!
I'd love to see if you can get a filet rose tan (or sunburn) if you lay out in the sun wearing that, lol!
Ok I agree it's hideous, but gawdforbid anybody show "love handles"? Come on - get over the size zero standard and realize that it's ok to show a little "bunch" once in a while.
ReplyDeleteI think it could be useful if you wanted a rose on your belly. Simply lie in the sun for a bit. When you remove your suit, voila! "Rose Tattoo" a la Anna Magnani.

ReplyDeleteJust the idea of a crocheted swimsuit is weird.
ReplyDeleteGrandma is going to be pissed when she finds out what this girl has done with her favorite doily. I can deal with looking at someone trying to pass off table decorations as wearable fashion but please, someone tell me this thing isn't a thong. There is way too much bum showing and it's scaring me.
ReplyDeleteEighties says it all.
ReplyDeletewell.... I don't really see "love handles" to complain about but there's no way on my best days I could wear that. How do you keep it from becoming "draggy" as wet crochet can become? And it really is more suited to lingerie than swimming......
ReplyDeleteI think her facial expression is supposed to be more "basking in the sun" than "I look good." Also, there is nothing wrong with this model's body. She look a good deal better than most of the too-thin models today. I doubt that it is a thong, Sherry. It is a high cut leg, for sure, but you can see the wider bit of fabric going across the hip towards the rear.
ReplyDeleteI know this is a site of misunderstood crochet items---but you would not think twice about wearing a bathing suit made of a knit stitch. Why not crochet? And are we so old we do not remember the days the beach/pool side was for looking good and attracting attention not for swimming?
ReplyDeleteLOL - I love the "rose suntan" comments. That would make this instantly better.
ReplyDeleteThread crochet + crotch = no.
No matter how skinny a person is, there will be pinching at the waist if you stand like that. It happens. That's not a "love handle" problem as you say.
ReplyDeleteBut the swimsuit: I think it's kind of a neat design.
im just jealous cause I wished I looked like that whatever I wore! :(
ReplyDeleteHaha, I dont have to contort myself to show off MY love handles lol. I only wish i was that thin...as long as a puff of wind couldnt blow me away.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking that in order to actually wear this you'd need paisties and a brazilian.
